Microsoft introduced its Product Support Reporting Tool that allows the collection of critical system and logging information. That information is used further in troubleshooting support issues. It will ultimately help in diagnosing problems in the software and then providing with the solutions.

The Microsoft Product Support Reports tool allows you to select the particular settings for which system configuration data has to be collected: General, Internet and Networking, Windows Update Services, Server Components, Exchange Servers & SQL, Business Networks, etc.

It depends on the system configuration and the categories you have selected, this Microsoft tool will take around 7 to 25 minutes to get away with the data collection. You can read the readme.txt files if you want more details about the information collected by each category.

You can install and use an indefinite number of copies of MPS Reports for the purpose of gathering system information that is required by your support executive to provide you with technical support services needed by you. You will get two executable files for each operating system, 32 or 64 bit. Please make sure you have downloaded the version as per your operating system.You can also check out Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool for Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 as it is also used by Microsoft to help diagnose Windows problems. ‘Microsoft Easy Assist’ is another useful feature of Windows Live Meeting that you can use to take professionals help.
