How to Use TikTok’s Exciting New Features

| Updated on March 1, 2024

With some exciting new features rolled out in Tik Tok, it’s time to get to grips with how to use them to further your own videos. Whether you’re hammering out TikTok songs that are getting people jumping, or want to know how to make the most of your influencer posts, you’re sure to love what’s in store.

Green Screen Fun

Now green screens aren’t just for movie production companies! It’s one of the most popular new effects on TikTok, and there’s no wonder. Choosing from their created collection of ‘green screen’ gifs, this will be applied as your background. Time for some new creativity and storytelling to hit the ground!

Simply log into the TikTok app, click the plus icon at the bottom of your screen for a new vid, and have your green background ready. Click on ‘effects’ and go to the ‘trending’ tab. Find ‘green screen’, and you’re ready to roll.

Enhanced Visuals

While post-production can’t fix everything- well, with this new effect it comes pretty close. Whether your issues are low-light, color-correction, or a bad exposure, this effect can help you skip the length fine-tuning process and get straight to publishing.

You’ll find the button for this labeled ‘enhance’ on the right panel. It can be undone by hitting the same button.

New Voice Effects

How does state-of-the-art music synthesis built into the TikTok app sound? With this new feature, you can make any sound or voice you won’t sound like a range of musical and animal effects. We’ve also been promised even more sound effects in the future, but for now, there’s a catalog of three to choose from, so have fun. Perhaps you can sing the entirety of the Cats! Musical all by yourself?

Record the video you want to use the effect in. Head to the editing page, where you’ll see the new ‘Voice Effects’ on the same right panel we mentioned earlier. Choose your effect, and your video audio will be transformed. For now, there are only three effects, but as we mentioned, more are to come.

1080 Uploads

For those looking to present a professional face on TikTok, instead of simply entertaining themselves, you’ll be pleased to know that high-def videos have finally dropped. After all, like Facebook Marketplace, TikTok is becoming a business tool as well as a social site. For some people, that is. For now, it remains confined to ‘select countries’, but we assume they’ll broaden it as they go.

Once your video is ready to go, you’ll access this new TikTok option from the Publishing page. Tap ‘more options’ and toggle ‘upload HD’ to on. This means your video will go up in full-HD, or 1080p resolution.

Are you ready to make even more engaging, creative TikTok content? With these new features to add to your arsenal, you don’t need to be a pro at video editing to create compelling content that drives views and expresses your creative side. There are sure to be more updates soon, such as the expansion of the music/animal voice effect collection we’ve been promised, so keep your eye on the site. We’ll bring you how-tos for anything new they launch this year, so you can concentrate on creating.
