All About the Important Verizon Email Settings- IMAP, POP, and SMTP

Verizon is an all-rounder when it comes to email service; you can configure your Verizon account in Outlook and other third-party email clients to access all your emails in one place without switching accounts. You will not need to log in to Verizon to check emails as you can do the same while working on Outlook. For that matter, there are Verizon email server settings that you need to be aware of to complete the set up correctly.

I think most of you know that Verizon retired from its email services in 2017 and shifted everything to AOL. So in case you have already switched your Verizon account to AOL or Outlook, you can still access your Verizon email account by entering its settings.

So let’s see what all settings are required to set up Verizon email.

Verizon Email Settings

Verizon IMAP Settings

IMAP stands for Internet Message Access Protocol and is used for receiving emails just like POP but there are a few differences. IMAP stores all your emails on the mail server and doesn’t download or save any information on your device and due to this, you can access your emails anywhere if your device is connected to the internet. IMAP functions similar to cloud storage and is also considered faster than POP3.

Now, let’s see what IMAP settings are required for your Verizon Email account.

  • Server: imap.aol.com
  • Server Port: 993
  • Encryption: SSL

Verizon POP3 Settings

POP3 stands for the third version of the Post Office Protocol and is a widely-accepted incoming mail server. It downloads all the information to your device and stores them locally so that you can access your emails offline as well and not just online.

Now, let’s see what IMAP settings are required for your Verizon Email account.

  • Server: pop.verizon.net
  • Port: 995
  • Encryption: SSL

Verizon SMTP Settings

SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol and is responsible for sending emails. This standard protocol is used by most of the email services to send emails through an outgoing mail server.

  • Server: smtp.verizon.net
  • Secure Connection: SSL
  • SMTP Username: Verizon email (xxxx@verizon.net)
  • SMTP Password: your account password
  • SMTP Port Settings: 465 (SSL)

All these email settings are required to set up Verizon email on any third-party email client such as Yahoo, Outlook, AOL, and so on. Incorrect incoming mail or outgoing mail server settings can also lead to Verizon login issues.
