A Troubleshooting Guide to Consider When AOL Mail isn’t Working on iPhone

The most beneficial feature is the one that lets you access AOL mail on Outlook as well as on other third-party email programs. AOL mail account can also be used on mobile devices such as Android, iPhone, or any other iOS devices. You just need to set up your account on iPhone or iPad to start sending or receiving emails with AOL mail. 

However, some issues may arise while using the AOL account on iPhone or iPad and here we will discuss all the possible issues and their solutions as well. 

Troubleshooting Steps When AOL Mail is not Working on iPhone

1. Turn on and off the Airplane Mode

It is possible that the internet is not working properly on your iPhone device and that’s why you are not able to send or receive any emails on your AOL account, or you can’t add your AOL mail to your iPhone. You can try fixing the issues with the internet by using the Airplane mode feature. For that:

  • Go to Settings of your iPhone and then tap the Airplane option.
  • Touch the slider to turn on Airplane mode and then disable it.
  • Now, open the AOL mail account and see if the error got fixed.

2. Check the Server

Maybe there is a problem at AOL’s end and that’s why it is not working on your iPhone. You can always use a site like downdetector.com to check if AOL is having some issues. You can just wait till the issues get resolved on their own.

Reset the Network Settings

You can also try resetting the network settings as this may also help in fixing issues with AOL mail, you can do it as follows:

  • Go to Settings of your iPhone
  • Tap General settings
  • Select the Reset option
  • Then select the Network Reset option, and this reset the network settings of your iPhone.
  • Now you can re-connect your iPhone to the network and see if the AOL mail not working on the iPhone issue got resolved.

4. Remove and Re-add AOL Mail Account

If the issue is still there, and you are not able to understand what’s causing the issue, you can simply remove your AOL account and re-add it to your iPhone to fix the issue.

To remove the AOL account:

  • Go to ‘Settings’
  • Tap ‘Account and password’
  • Select your AOL account that you want to remove
  • You will see the AOL account on a new page
  • Click on the ‘Delete Account’ option
  • Doing this will remove the AOL account from the iPhone.

To re-add your AOL account:

  • Go to ‘Settings’
  • Tap ‘Account and password’
  • Tap Go to ‘Settings’
  • Tap the ‘Add Account’ option and then select ‘AOL’ from the list.
  • On the sign-in page, enter the AOL email address and password to log in to your AOL mail account.

5. Check if Fetch New Data Option is On

If AOL emails are not updating on iPhone, you can check if the option of Fetch New Data is on or not. If it is off, you will not get new mails on your iPhone. To turn on this option:

  • Go to Settings > Tap Account & Passwords > Tap Fetch New Data
  • Turn on the Push button, and doing this will push the new data to your iPhone from the server when possible.
  • You can also set the schedule for fetching.

AOL mail won’t load if your device is not connected to the internet, or you have not properly synced your account to iPhone. You can try all the above solutions if you find that AOL mail is not working on the iPhone. 

Steps to Fix Issues with AOL Mail App

If you are using the AOL mail app on your iPhone, the following quick tips may help you to fix the issue:

  1. Exit the AOL Mail app completely and also exit all the apps running in the background; after that try opening the app again and see if it helped.
  2. Make sure your AOL mail app is completely updated and also ensure that your iOS is up-to-date.
  3. Clear the AOL mail app’s cache and data as this will free up some space by removing the temporary files.
  4. You can also try uninstalling and re-installing the AOL app and then see if the issue got fixed.
  5. Restart your device to refresh the entire system as this may also fix some performance-related issues and will also speed up your device.
