Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max- Most Sold-out Series in Australia? Price, Features, and More

| Updated on March 27, 2024

Are you looking for a phone that is refined and stuffed to the core with state-of-the-art features? Then the iPhone 13 Pro Max is the phone for you. The truth is, most of us can make do with the standard iPhone 13. It has a vibrant display, decent battery life, and powerful cameras. But the iPhone 13 Pro Max offers some meaningful upgrades that may just make it worth your penny. Here’s what you need to know.

Price

As we’ve expected from the Pro models, you will need to cough up a small fortune to get your hands on one. Currently, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is available from Phonebot in Australia, starting from $1,579 AUD for 128GB of storage. The phone is also available in 256GB, 512GB, and even 1TB variants.

Design

2020’s iPhone 12 range marked one of the most dramatic iPhone redesigns in years, at least after the iPhone X. That said, design-wise, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is no great departure from its predecessor, the iPhone 12 Pro Max. It comes in the same ungodly size, albeit with a slight increase in thickness. The iPhone 13 Pro Max measures 6.33 x 3.07 x 0.30 inches which, as we’ve mentioned, isn’t too significant of a change to the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s 160.8 x 78.1 x 7.4 mm dimensions. However, the phone may feel a bit bulky to hold as it’s heavier than its predecessor weighing 240g instead of 228g.

That doesn’t make it any less stunning than the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The iPhone 13 Pro Max sports a glass front and back, stainless steel frame, and edge-to-edge display. It also retains the flat edges. Plus, it has an IP68 for dust- and water resistance, meaning it’s resistant to submersion up to a maximum depth of 1.5m for up to 30 minutes. The camera bump is a bit thicker, though, and now sits on a diagonal axis. We get new color options with this phone. Apart from Silver, Gold, and Graphite, the iPhone 13 Pro Max also comes in Sierra Blue (instead of Pacific Blue) and the recently introduced Alpine Green.

Display

The front of the phone is dominated by a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with a 1284 x 2778-pixel resolution and 458 PPI density. The iPhone 13 Pro Max also gets to enjoy increased brightness. Based on the spec sheet from Apple, the display peaks at 1200 nits and boasts Apple’s Pro-Motion technology. This is the tech behind the high refresh rate. Depending on what you are viewing, the screen can switch between a refresh rate of 10 and 120 Hz. This results in a snappy and smoother overall performance. The graphics look crisp, and the animations smooth.

Cameras

The camera is probably the most attractive feature of the iPhone 13 Pro Max. Apple retained the triple rear camera configuration comprising wide, ultra-wide, and telephoto lenses. Also included is a TOF 3D LiDAR depth scanner. Despite seemingly having an identical camera system to the iPhone 12 Pro Max, the iPhone 13 Pro Max comes with some welcome improvements. This includes improved telephoto zoom, macro photography, Cinematic mode, ProRes, and Dolby Vision video. As such, the phone delivers photos that are both brighter and more detailed.

Battery and Performance

As it’s been a tradition, every year, Apple equips its flagship range with a newly improved chipset. In 2021, the company got to unveil the A15 Bionic chip. However, there’s a catch this time. While the four phones in the range feature an A15 chip, the number of cores they have is different. The standard iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini only come with 4GPU cores, while the Pro models are blessed with five. That means the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, at least on paper, offer superior performance compared to their siblings. They can handle pretty much everything you throw at them, including multitasking and intensive games.

As for the battery, the iPhone 13 Pro Max boasts a bigger battery of 4352mAh. It arguably offers the best battery life of any iPhone to date, especially given that the display refresh rate can dynamically adjust itself when required to avoid draining the battery. The phone is capable of fast charging, MagSafe wireless charging, and Qi magnetic fast wireless charging.

Verdict

Everything about the iPhone 13 Pro Max is big, in fact, there are also a few iPhone tips and tricks that iPhone users should learn. . It has incredible battery life, the cameras are extremely powerful, and the display is vibrant. The charging could be better, and the exclusion of Touch ID is a bit disappointing. Besides, given its price tag, it’s not exactly the most affordable option for many Australians. However, the iPhone 13 Pro Max is excellent and is especially ideal for those looking for a great camera phone.
