Threads picked up the pace at the moment of launch but since then it has not been a good ride for the platform. The engagement on the platform is pretty low which is why most notable creators, celebrities, or influencers are not giving it any importance.
Well, Meta has done everything to create a rival app to X (formerly Twitter).
Slowly but surely, they are creating more features to compete with other platforms. In February, we reported that Threads is testing Today’s Topics for users in the US. It was a step in the right direction as this was a much-needed improvement on the platform.
Now to enhance that feature Threads is testing Tending Topics highlights that will focus on the Live Events.

As you can see from the image, there is a highlighted live event that is trending based on the things happening right now.
It is a good way to create real-time engagement and get more people to share their thoughts on the same. It is similar to what we see on X’s Explore page. However, it feels that Threads is not looking at highlighting a current event, it is for a topical event. While X is great at presenting big breaking news events at a rapid pace.
For now, Threads is not looking to capitalize on that. Threads Chief, Adam Mosseri has said on many occasions that the platform doesn’t want to focus on news content.
