As per the CEO, the company is still in the development phase but soon there will be a version of Trending Topics within Threads will appear for everyone. This will be called, “Today’s Topics”, which will help users engage in more conversations of broad interest in the app.

Here is an example image.

According to the company, the listing will be determined by AI, based on what people are interacting with most. There will be a level of customization to avoid topics that violate its community guidelines. Until now, there was no way to check out hot conversations and trending topics on Threads, it was a much-needed feature for Threads to survive in this market.

Meta is taking a different approach than X for real-time conversations and discussions. X has the capacity to tune into the discussion around any event as it happens.

Apart from this, Meta also said that they will add controls to limit political content recommendations on the platform. That means, Meta will be looking to keep tight control over what is featured in the Trending Topics section. For now, this may help the platform curate a positive app experience.
