Windows 11 24H2 Update is Now Available for All Users

Microsoft is releasing the Windows 11 2024 update version 24H2 to everyone starting from today. The new update includes a number of small but useful features that improve Windows 11, its Start Menu, File Explorer, Settings, and much more. 

This is supposed to be the start of the 36 months of support for Enterprise and Education editions and 24 months for Home and Pro editions of the product. 

The new update is now available to download from multiple sources including Windows Server Update Services. People who are on the Windows 11 versions 22H2 and 23H2 will get the update first. To update your Windows 11, go to Settings, click on the Windows Update option from the left sidebar, and then turn on “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available”

The new features from the update include a scrollable Quick Settings list in the system tray, text labels for common File Explorer actions, 7-Zip and TAR archives support, an energy-saving feature, and more. 

It also includes some new deployment and management tools, including an updated security baseline, administrative templates, a Group Policy settings reference spreadsheet, and removal server administration tools for Windows 11. 

It has also introduced updates to the Server Message Block protocol, including firewall rule changes, NTLM blocking support, dialect management, alternative network port connections, SMB over QUIC, and SMB signing and encryption modifications.

There are also some security improvements in Windows 11. 

Microsoft will end the support for Windows 11 on October 14, 2025. So, there is only a year left before users will have to turn to Windows 11.
