Snapchat is now taking its AR glasses to a new level. A new version of the Snapchat spectacles has been revealed that incorporates AR overlays on your field of vision.

However, they have not released them yet to the public. The company has just revealed the glasses.

You can check out their marketing video for AR glasses to see what kind of features they are offering. According to the video, the new AR glasses will enable AR interaction, in various ways, with the effects visible via your glasses.

This is not a new thing that Snapchat has embarked upon. They have been making its spectacles for years. They have also given early access to developers for an earlier version of the device. This early access allowed developers to build for the next generation of the device.

Here is how Snap describes the glasses.

“Spectacles are the result of a decade of research and development to introduce hardware that breaks the bounds of screens and brings people together in the real world. Spectacles pack incredible technology into AR glasses that weigh less than half the weight of a typical VR headset at only 226 grams. They are equipped with four cameras that power the Snap Spatial Engine and enable seamless hand tracking.”

Ever since Snap launched its first spectacles in 2016, it has been thought that Snap will launch a fully functional AR device. This was especially true when they launched the World Lenses at the same time, which would interact with real-world environments.

In the background, Snap has been working quietly on the Spectacles. With both Meta and Apple entering into the AR wearables space, Snap’s entry is much appreciated. From the looks of it, Snap’s spectacles might end up being the more popular option.

However, users will have to control their AR glasses through an app on their mobile devices.

“Through the new Spectacles app, you can use your phone as a custom game controller with Lenses, launch Spectator Mode so friends without Spectacles can follow along, mirror your phone screen, and more.”

Snap has not revealed many details about the glasses yet, but we hope to find out more about them soon.
