| Updated on March 1, 2024

Since our childhood, things have changed a lot. Nowadays mobile phones are taking over children’s interest. New and addictive apps and games are getting introduced day by day. When we used to play hide and seek, kids were playing mobile games and cycling, but kids nowadays are using Instagram to scroll reels.

Outdoor activities have been proven a vital need for the human body. It results in providing important benefits to the human body. For example, sunlight helps in maintaining the levels of Vitamin D. Outdoor activities also improve mental health and make it easier for kids to socialize.

However, in this article, we will focus more on the number of activities that kids should try.

Trampoline

Kids love to jump over the trampoline. You must have been familiar with it from your childhood. Who does not like to jump continuously over them? I personally liked to do tricks on that. You do not have any fear of getting hurt due to the bouncy film. However, like other activities, there are some safety measures for trampolines too.

  • Do not let your kids do tricks without your supervision.
  • Do not place the trampoline under a tree or a roof.
  • Do not jump over the corners.

There are a number of good-quality trampolines online. Search through the internet and find the best deal for yourself.

Balloon Volleyball

Divide your playfield into 2 parts with the help of a rope. Inflate a balloon with your strong lungs. Gather your team around and start playing without taking any breaks.
Look at the balloon fly high after you smack them hard. Score as many points as you can in 2 hours. The team with the most points wins.

Mini-Golf Course

There are many mini golf kits available in toy stores. These are compact and transportable kits that can be stored easily inside your house.
Strike the ball with a golf stick and try to score in as few hits as you can. The person who wins the match will receive the prize.

Lawn Twister

Lawn twister is another outside game that you can try in your free time. The lawn twister kit contains color spray and a dial with different colors.

Hide and Seek

One of your friends will have to seek the rest of all. The seeking friend will count to 10 and others have to hide before the countdown ends.
Once the countdown ends, he will have to seek all the other friends and shout “I Spy” to eliminate the player from the game. The most important thing for the seeker is to not let others reach the home base. Otherwise, the game would be repeated.

Hiking

Hiking is a fun and adventurous activity to do outdoors. However, if there are/are children in the group, the surroundings need to be safe for them.

Go to the nearest mountain or elevation to your home. Carry all the necessary equipment with you. Pack all the necessary supplies given below:

  • Water
  • Band-aids
  • Anti-bacterials
  • A Stick (recommended)
  • Glucose
  • Light food

Sack Race

The sack race is a funny activity. A lot of your friends will falter down during this race.

Get inside a sack that covers you up to your belly button. Grab it tightly and hop to the finishing line. Try to hop as quickly as possible to win the race.

Do not try to run inside the sack as you may fall down and get seriously injured. Play this game in a plane area with no rocks and pebbles to avoid any kind of serious injury.

Hopscotch

Draw a pattern like the one shown in the picture. Throw a pebble inside a box and complete one round both back and forth.

  • Place 1 foot inside each box.
  • Do not step in the box with the pebble.
  • Once you start coming back, pick up the pebble without placing your 2nd foot on the ground.
  • Once you complete 1 whole round, move on to the next number and keep going like that.

Play this game until you reach “home” which is the final level of the game.

Tug of War

Use your complete force to pull the other component in your area. Tighten your grip on the rope and place your feet firmly on the ground.

Don’t let your friend pull you into his or her area. You can also play on the team. Divide your group into 2 teams with an equal number of players. Try not to get pulled into the opponent’s area.

Dodgeball

As the name suggests, in the game, players have to dodge the incoming ball toward themselves. The rule is that the ball should not touch any part of the body. This game can be played both indoors and outdoors.

This game involves a softball that does not hurt anyone. This game is a great option for high-intensity physical games.

Red Rover

Red Rover is a very interesting and fun game. In this game, your group has to be divided into two teams. One of the teams has to shout the line “Red Rover, Red Rover, send (a player’s name) on over!” out loud.

The player with that name from the opposite team has to come forward and run through the links from your chain. If he or she is able to break the link between the two players of your chain, both players will have to join the opponent’s team. And if he is unable to break the chain, he will have to join the team.

Hang in There

None of the games from the list is simpler than this one. To play this game, tie two ropes heightwise to each other with 21 poles. The kids have to stand on the bottom rope by grabbing the upper one. The more the kids climb onto the rope, it will get more difficult for them to stay in the place.

The one who stayed on the rope for the longest will win the game.
