Google recently launched a scam detection feature that runs on Artificial Intelligence for the Pixel phone series, and is now being introduced in a Pixel Watch, alerting people in real-time through the wrist. Pixel Watch 2 and 3 users will now get Scam Detection notifications right on their wrists without needing to hold their phones during calls to be aware of any potential fraud.
This smart feature uses AI to detect suspicious conversation language heard at the moment it takes place—although it is not going to be perfect since fraudsters change their techniques; anytime it finds something fishy in a conversation, you will know through alerts, ringtone, and vibration.
What was a Pixel Phone exclusive has now come to the Watch at last, endowing you with a greater degree of certainty while taking calls from otherwise-notable numbers. A much-needed addition to an already lovingly cherished feature.
Although many attempts to handle scam calls, the AI-based intervention by Google stands as the most innovative and the best among other choices of handling calls from the unknown by simply ignoring them or camping them. As soon as it becomes available, you can activate Scam Detection on your watch by pairing Pixel Watch 2 or 3 with Pixel 9 or later.
Both have to be connected via Bluetooth for Scam Detection to operate. As of now, the feature is restricted to calls in English inside the US. After configuring Scam Detection from Pixel Phone Settings, if it is enabled, the user will hear a beep upon starting a call. The beep will be heard at intervals during conversation as a reminder that the feature is running. The Pixel watch and the phone must be connected through Bluetooth on the device of the user so that this feature can pass data in and out successfully.
