Prime Video Subscribers to See Ads When Content Is Paused

| Updated on May 9, 2024

Amazon Prime Video is now focused on expanding the advertisement on its platform. The subscribers will see new types of ads this year.

The company has announced that it will add new ad formats to its video streaming service. They are also hoping to encourage people to interact with ads and shop on Amazon as well.

Beginning of the year, Amazon increased the price of their subscriptions, which meant watching Prime Video without ads cost $3 more per month.

The ad-supported version will now have even more ads that we will list here.

There are three new ad types announced by Amazon.

Shoppable Carousel Ads: In This format, Prime Video will display commercials while you are watching a show or movie. At the same time, subscribers will be encouraged to purchase products displayed on a sliding lineup.

Interactive Pause Ads: Now, the users will also see a transparent ad when they pause a video. This ad will only be visible for the time during which the video was paused. Once users resume the video, the ad will disappear.

Interactive Brand Trivia Ads: These trivia ads will feature product trivia and fun facts and will appear during content streams. This type of ad will also feature an Add to Cart or Email option as well.

Here, Amazon also revealed that their ads reach around 200 million people each month. So, we can assume that they are talking about Prime Video subscribers.

The ad business of Amazon is going pretty well, the company has reported a revenue growth of 2% year-over-year.
