Nothing’s CMF Phone 2 Pro has made its debut in India with a pre-installed Nothing OS 3.2, which is based on Android 15. The impending Android 16 update has been indicated by the UK-based company during the unveiling event. Though Google unveiled the following Android operating system last month, so far, only Pixel phones have a stable version. This newest clue points toward the possibility that Android 16 will also soon be accessible for Nothing phones.

Confirming that the phone includes Nothing OS 3.5, CEO Carl Pei summarized the features of the Nothing Phone 3 in the launch video released on the official Nothing YouTube channel. He also suggested that ‘later this autumn,’ Nothing OS 4.0, based on Android 16, would begin to roll out to devices.

Hence, its arrival might be expected between September and November. Although certain facts are still classified, the Nothing Phone 3 is expected to be the first device from the company to get the Android 16 update, as it is considered the first genuine flagship smartphone.

Following the I/O 2025 conference last month, Google released Android 16’s stable version. While other companies are still testing the beta version, only Pixel devices have started to get the update. Carl Pei’s most recent indication suggests that Nothing may soon be collaborating with Google in this respect.

September saw the launch of the operating system globally as well as the introduction of the Nothing OS 3.0 upgrade based on Android 15. Starting a month afterwards, the open beta for this upgrade let consumers check out and evaluate its fresh capabilities before the December public release.

It took only a few weeks for the update to be distributed to all of the devices in Nothing’s portfolio. Once it is introduced in the autumn, Nothing OS 4.0, which will be based on Android 16, can be anticipated to follow a somewhat similar timeline.
