Nintendo Switch 2: Price and Release Date Officially Announced

Nintendo releases Nintendo Switch 2

Nintendo, following its unpredictable announcement in January, has called the Switch 2 which has been made live along with release date and pricing during a live stream event. Those who want to feel newly born in that blue shell experience in the latest edition of Mario Kart will have until June 5 to buy the Switch 2. It goes on sale in the UK for £395.99 or £429.99 if purchased strictly as part of a Luigi-themed Mario Kart World bundle- an increase significantly more than that of £299 for the original Switch at launch in 2017.

This new version of Nintendo’s hybrid console has a larger 7.9-inch display capable of 1080p resolution and features an astounding 120 frames per second. When docked to a television, the Switch 2 can output graphics in stunning 4K definition and has included redesigns on its Joy-Con controllers for better comfort, which now attach magnetically to the console.

Mario Kart World, which we first glimpsed in early January when it was announced, was also shown in all its new glory during the livestream. It has become an open-world game, a concept that could seem as strange as turning Pong into an open-world experience or giving Dear Esther a battle pass. However, we’ll reserve an opinion until we’ve tried it ourselves. The race tracks do appear stunning, with far more detail than those in Mario Kart 8.

There is also a new Zelda title in the works, titled Legend of Zelda Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, which would be a prequel to Tears of the Kingdom. Kirby Aerial Riders are also set to strengthen the Switch 2 lineup, alongside a new Donkey Kong game named Donkey Kong Bonanza, which will be available on July 17.

Recently a talk about Switch 2’s “New Mysterious Button” got the eye of the town. Read in-depth with enhanced GPU details.

And now for something completely different: while every colour of the rainbow and every smiley face you’d expect from Nintendo games would typically evoke the image of something quite happy and pretty, Dark Souls developer Fromsoft happens to be working on his next project, which aims to catch a little more of the hardcore gaming crowd.

It is called Duskbloods and it also promises to be PvPvE, however, something very different from what users are used to because it can be expected to steer clear of the standard NPCs with their cryptic dialogue and unnecessarily complicated boss fights. More details about the same, including other third-party games that could get a Switch release could be attained through a 1.5-hour livestream.
