Nintendo Switch 2: Jaw-Dropping GPU Leaks & A Mysterious New Button

Nintendo Switch 2 official announcement soon

Excitement is building for an announcement from Nintendo on Thursday regarding the much-anticipated Nintendo Switch 2. This week’s revelation might be just a teaser for a more significant launch later this year, Yet, the excitement is high because of the leaks that hint at what fans can expect from the sequel to the beloved console.

Recently, two interesting leaks emerged, suggesting a more strong GPU possibly shedding light on the mysterious new ‘C’ button. This button has appeared on the supposed dummy models of the upcoming device.

The most substantial rumors come from the ‘Famiboards forums’ which is known for its plethora of gaming leaks. There, leaker and data miner ZachyCatGames shared that the Switch 2’s GPU clock speeds could reach or even exceed 560 MHz when the device is in portable mode.

If the gossip is true, the Switch 2 could achieve around 1.72 TFLOPs while in portable mode. Moreover, ZachyCatGames also indicated that when docked, the Switch 2 could nearly double its performance to reach the clock speed of 1,007.3 MHz, translating to about 3.09 TFLOPs.

While this performance may not quite match the PS4 or PS4 Pro, it still represents a major upgrade over the original Nintendo Switch. However, as with many rumors surrounding the Switch 2, it is wise to approach this information with skepticism.

The origins of these figures remain somewhat unclear and a deep dive into the lengthy forum discussions reveals that some claims may be made in jest. It looks like Nintendo has learned from its experience with the Miiverse, which allowed players to share doodles and messages in games such as Splatoon. However, it quickly delegated into inappropriate content which led to its discontinuation in 2017. A dedicated screen button looks like a logical addition, but more details will be out after the official announcement.
