Meta cleared earlier that it doesn’t want political discussion on Threads. But that would not stop users from engaging in political discussions, it is going to happen sooner or later.
That is why the company is expanding its fact checks to Threads as well. This feature was first spotted in a live stream last week. Here is the live stream snapshot.
In the above image, we can see that Threads is now displaying fact checks in some regions. This feature is an extension of what is already available on Facebook and Instagram, they did not develop it from scratch for Threads.

Meta Confirmed this development to TechCrunch that this is coming to Threads in limited form. The Threads alerts also match similar content that’s been fact-checked in its other apps.
They also plan to add specific tags for Threads later, which will be important given what is happening around the world, especially in the tech world. With the advent of AI, deep fakes have become a problem for social media platforms.
Fact-checking on social media platforms has become a point of discussion as X is looking to reduce the impact of outside interference on the content of the app.
In the future Threads will have dedicated fact checks in the stream to dismiss false narratives and keep the users informed.
