HP EliteBook Ultra G1i 14 Review: A Stellar Business Flagship

| Updated on March 26, 2025
A detailed look at the HP EliteBook Ultra G1i 14

The EliteBook Ultra from Intel, in comparison, is immensely superior to the Snapdragon version, with a wide variety of notable improvements. It has a lighter base, more ports, an improved webcam, a haptic touchpad, and a better display. The excellent edge here is that they do not have to deal with compatibility.

Not that performance from the Lunar Lake processor was ever doubted; with dual fans that are almost inaudible, and that says a lot when you are using it. Battery life is also not that good, but one would not mind sacrificing a bit of performance for the display.

With the new naming scheme, the latest EliteBook series can get a bit confusing. Compared to the more generic EliteBook X, some key features will be missed, such as key travel and business functionalities such as the SmartCard reader or LTE/5G capabilities. The new Lenovo ThinkPad X9 14 will stand as a fierce competitor against the EliteBook Ultra, and we are very excited to see how it fares in our own tests.

The device has a lightweight and durable aluminium chassis, excellent system performance, an exceptionally quiet cooling system and an amazing display at 120Hz & VRR. Besides this, it has wide Connectivity (3x TB4, WiFi 7), a 9-MP Webcam with a Privacy Shutter and an excellent Haptic Touchpad.

However, it has non-user-upgradable RAM, it does not have a WWAN and SmartCard Reader also the the keyboard is inferior to EliteBook X models.

The HP EliteBook Ultra G1i is a slim 14-inch business laptop that serves as the flagship of the series. The review unit we had for it (B66THAT), with a price tag of $3,849, came with a 2.8K OLED touchscreen with 120 Hz refresh rate; an Intel Core Ultra 258V processor; 32 GB of RAM; and a 1 TB SSD.
