The series 9 and Ultra 2 watches from Apple were launched with iPhone 15 models last year. They were well received but some users started complaining about the ‘ghost touch’ issue affecting some series 9 and Ultra 2 models.
According to an internal memo shared with Apple Authorized Service Providers and seen by MacRumors, Apple is aware of the issue and launched an investigation for the same. So, if Apple is taking note, that means the problem must be pretty big.
However, we can’t find many reports online by users complaining about the same. Well, it is also possible that users may not report such issues to the company but some of us do and Apple is aware of it.
The internal memo accessed by MacRumors states, ‘Some customers may report their Apple Watch Series 9 or Apple Watch Ultra 2 is experiencing false touches on their display.’ It means that the problem may not be widespread in older models.
This issue may cause the screen on affected models to act erratically and may start a phone call or prevent the user from entering the passcode of the watch. So, if you’re experiencing the same issues, you’re not alone in this.
There is no official statement from Apple regarding the same. There is no clarity on when it will be fixed. However, users are advised to keep a watch out for OS updates on their devices. The company may issue an update in the future to resolve this issue.
The company has asked the technicians to not repair the watches that come with these types of issues. They are also instructed to ask the customers to restart the watch if the issue persists.
