Amazon streaming live from its headquarters, in New York City, where the much-anticipated Alexa event took place. In fact, the event has now formally launched a new innovation for the company, namely the Alexa Plus new voice assistant now infused with artificial intelligence.
Expectedly, the new Alexa will come with a monthly subscription fee of $19.99, but free access for Amazon Prime members. This announcement is probably going to be considered the most important upgrade the voice assistant has received since its launch in 2014.
During the event, Panos Panay, Vice President of Devices and Services, took to a live demonstration of what he called the capabilities of the newly created Alexa Plus, and it did look pretty impressive. Concierge, sous-chef, assistant, or even house manager – it seems as if Alexa Plus is ready to handle it all.
An impressive speciality of Alexa Plus features conversation, which was staged by Panay live on the stage. When he says, I am a little nervous about the live demos, Alexa Plus replies, “With so many eyes on you, it’s natural to feel a bit nervous. As for what could go wrong, let’s just say Murphy’s Law is probably sharpening his pencil right now.”
This exchange could show that this new Alexa Plus indeed has a delightful sense of humor. Alexa Plus is developed using AI Models, both from Anthropic and Amazon Nova; it thus promises quite wonderful versatility.
Among the demonstrations and commercials were managing smart home devices, making dinner reservations, and scheduling events via the integration of calendars for sending invitations. Plus, the AI assistant is sight since it is capable of scanning documents and can retrieve files later.
Features created for children are also numerous. An example can be shown in a demo video on how this new enhanced Alexa Plus product could answer inquiries and devise stories.
