It is expected that third-party applications will try to interface with this new system once Apple finishes creating the next-gen Siri. Designed to connect apps with Siri and Apple Intelligence, the App Intents framework adds to the existing workload for developers already adjusting to Apple’s new liquid design in iOS 26 and beyond.
Under Apple’s developer beta program, all app developers are expected to have a restricted timeline to prepare their programs for the upcoming next-gen Siri before it becomes available to the public. Apple now has a note in its developer documentation about App Intents, which has been present for years across Shortcuts, Spotlight, widgets, and more.
Regarding next-gen Siri integration, the note says: “Under development and scheduled for release with a later software upgrade are Siri’s personal contextual knowledge, in-app actions, and onscreen visibility.”
Apple is working with the companies behind these eight often-used iOS apps to create App Intents and the fresh next-gen Siri, as Mark Gurman claims. The companies Apple is working with include some top-notch names such as Uber, AllTrials, Threads of, Temu, Amazon, WhatsApp, Facebook, and YouTube.
Moreover, Gurman has also noted that Apple has even tested the improved next-gen Siri with a few games, which may shock many. Naturally, Apple is also working on the system in line with its own applications. This data is part of an update on the status of Apple’s delayed Siri upgrade, which Gurman suggests could possibly be released as soon as the spring of next year.
Originally revealed at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in 2024, Apple plans to launch next-gen Siri by the past spring. The main developmental obstacle appears to have been the attempt to develop a hybrid model combining legacy features of the old Siri with fresh big language systems. It appears that Amazon may beat Apple in the race after dealing with a similar strategy reset.
