The much-anticipated launch of “Assassin’s Creed Shadows” for November 15 has been unfortunately pushed to February 2025. In a recent report, Ubisoft, the game publisher, announced on Wednesday, the reasons being a weak performance for the new title “Star Wars Outlaws” and lower than expected profit in the current quarter.
According to Ubisoft, the game is complete; however, some minor setbacks learned from Star Wars Outlaws provide them additional time to further refine the game. “This will enable the biggest entry in the franchise to fully deliver on its ambition, notably by fulfilling the promise of our dual protagonist adventure, with Naoe and Yasuke bringing two very different gameplay styles.”
The gaming platform also assured its users that “Assassins Creed Shadows” will be available on Steam on the launch day instead of its current strategy for the Season Pass model. This will enable all players to enjoy the game together on February 14, and those who preorder will be granted the first expansion for free.
It is also noteworthy that this recent update followed after PlayStation revealed its “Ghost of Tsushima” sequel “Ghost of Yotei” with similar historical Japanese settings to the Ubisoft game will also debut in 2025.
This may seem like a real-world gaming competition between the two companies – Ubisoft and PlayStation. However, Ubisoft has always worked to improve the player experience in order to engage a large audience during the holiday season. They hope the new ‘Star Wars Outlaws’ to be launched on Steam on November 21 will be a strong long-term performer.
