In this post by influence marketing expert Lindsey Gamble, you can see the new Community Spaces on YouTube. For now, these are available for the selected creator profiles.
This new feature provides a dedicated space for fans to view text updates from the creator, while also sharing their own posts.
This is a sort of extension of YouTube’s Community Posts, which enables creators to post some updates through text. YouTube added this feature in June last year. Now, they are looking for a way to involve fans in that interaction.
Ultimately, this will drive up engagement for the creator and fans will find more ways to interact and engage with their favorite creators.
Now, YouTube is trying to find more ways to engage fans with their creators. The best social element of YouTube was its comment section. Over time, the video-sharing platform has de-emphasized comments due to the sometimes toxic nature of responses.
Now, they want to enhance engagement via Community Posts, which will drive positive engagement for the creator.
With this YouTube is hoping to become a more social app than people perceive it to be. For creators, it could be a valuable consideration by building connections in the app.
For now, YouTube is testing this feature with selected creators, a wider rollout is expected in the future.
