Today, X announced that they are getting a new Head of Safety. Long-time Twitter/X employee, Kylie McRoberts will take on this new role.
X announced this on their platform, have a look.
Earlier this team was called the Trust and Safety Team but when Elon Musk took over, he dropped Trust for some reason and now it is called the Safety Team. This team works to make the platform a better and safer space for everyone involved in it.
McRoberts will take on the new role of keeping things cool on the app, while adhering to their policy of what should and should not be moderated. However, it is believed that Elon Musk has a lot of say when it comes to the moderation process on the platform. So, the question is, Will McRoberts be able to make independent decisions or Elon would have a say in it?
According to X, Kylie has been instrumental in their recent progress towards achieving unparalleled safety and security on the platform. She has been credited for the labels on the platform.
“Kylie will oversee the global Safety team, which is responsible for developing new products, tools, and features to protect our platform and community, maintaining our Safety policies, and enhancing our enforcement methodology and operations.”
X has not had a Safety head since June last year. The previous safety head Ella Erwin resigned after Elon questioned her actions on the restriction of a documentary that was posted on the platform.
