Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon X Elite chipset for Windows devices last October. The company showcased the internal benchmark scores of the chipset to prove that it is a better offering than Apple’s M3 chips.
Today, fresh benchmarks have emerged online for Snapdragon X Elite codenamed Qualcomm ZH-WXX. But are they in line with the benchmarks shared by the company?
The new leak was reported by Windows Latest and the report also featured a bunch of Geekbench scores for the Qualcomm ZH-WXX PC which is a device featuring the Snapdragon X Elite. After winning the mobile chipset category, Qualcomm is foraying into the PC segment. This is their upcoming chip based on ARM architecture for Windows 11 laptops that has a lot of people excited about it.
We all know that Apple Silicon M chips for computers are incredibly powerful and efficient and draw much less power than the competition. Qualcomm has been trying to build a processor to rival what Apple has to offer and has been working closely with Microsoft on a Windows 11-optimized chipset.
The previous attempts of Qualcomm at PC chips failed to beat Apple but this one is promising. Snapdragon outperforms M1 and M2 and is a close competitor to M3 chips.
According to this screengrab, the Geekbench single core score for this powerful Snapdragon X Elite chip is 2,574, and a multi-core score of 12,562. When compared to Apple silicon, it is faster than M2 but isn’t quite up there with the M3 chip.
This Geekbench leak also confirms that the chip has 12 cores and is divided into two clusters – one with 8 cores and another with 4 cores.
Windows laptops equipped with Snapdragon X Elite chips will likely hit the market by June 2024. Once the laptops are out in the market, we will be sure to test them.
