Snapchat has now shared more details on its “Snap Sports Network” they previewed back in May. The new Snap Network will include a team of popular sports creators presenting the news on sports.
This is not going to be your typical sports-based coverage, it won’t feature regular sports headlines like you’d expect from a sports channel. Instead, it will offer niche things like hobby horsing, professional pillow fighting, and more.
It will begin on July 19 and will consist of six episodes that feature fun and high-energy segments celebrating the unconventional sports content captured by Snapchatters across the globe.
Here is how Snapchat explains it.
“With 180 million Snapchatters watching sports coverage every month on average, we’re covering sports in our own light-hearted and wacky way and inspiring Snapchatters to engage with unique sports they’ve never tried before. Beginning July 19th through August 7th, Snap Sports Network will consist of six episodes featuring fun, high-energy segments celebrating the latest and greatest in unconventional sports content captured by Snapchatters across the globe.”
Snap team has selected four content creators that create content around sports. The list of team members includes Kris London, Rachel Pizzolato, Rachel DeMita, and Tony Talks to help you follow along and get excited with each episode.
With this program, they are also bringing new sponsorship opportunities, with e.l.f Cosmetics coming on board for the series.
It looks like this new Snap Sports Network is a different take on sports. However, it could hold appeal with Snap’s audience and may boost engagement in the app.
If the users are convinced of this offering, it will expand in-app interest.
To check this out, you will be able to find Snap Sports Network in the Discover section of the app when it is live.
