AI powered web browser Comet launched by Perplexity

Perplexity AI, powered by artificial intelligence, is all set to introduce its very own web browser. In Cupertino, the business revealed on X that Comet, its browser prototype and the heir to the browser age, will be a go soon.

A source from an email sent from an official representative from Perplexity recently, stated, “Much as Perplexity transformed searching, we’re trying to totally redo the way we browse.”

Since October, the company now processes over 100 million queries each week through its Perplexity search engine. The message stated, “Perplexity processes more than 100M queries every week now,”

Indeed, on X, words scribed by Perplexity CEO Aravind could be found where he said, “Moving ahead, 100M and beyond queries every day.” In December, the company supposedly closed a funding round worth $500 million which had it ballooning to a $9 billion startup.

As the report from PYMNTS had remarked, investments were notable as they came from SoftBank, Nvidia, and Jeff Bezos of Amazon. At the start of 2024, the company valuation started at just $520 million and elevated up to $3 billion by summer.

The company has rolled out its AI-based shopping assistant, built for the United States. On January 1, 2025, a blog entry said that the Buy With Pro feature helps shoppers find and buy items.

The company observed in the post, “It’s a major step in which we provide aid to our consumers, and it enables the complete usability of actions directly from an answer. Now, online shopping got ten times easier and more entertaining.”Perplexity Pro users with U.S. accounts are the only ones who really get that. This is because they are mainly updated with the concept of checking out at the company’s website or app concerning specific products from various merchants using the shipping and billing addresses they saved.
