Finding personal information online, like a phone number, address, or email, may be worrying. Fortunately, Google is now simplifying things for you to ensure that it does not appear again.
Years back, Google created an application titled “Results about you”, which would help in tracing one’s personal data on the internet and then having it removed from search results. The trouble was that this instrument was not easily accessible since it was hidden deep inside the settings menu.
Currently, one can directly request removals from Google Search. The interesting part is how simple and quick the whole procedure is. Here is how it works.
Begin by searching for the contact details on Google. For example, a few searches using your name and phone number could occasionally lead you to a lot of people and search engines.
When you see a result with your personal information, just click on the three dots next to it, and a dropdown menu will open with various link information. It includes “Remove result.” Click on that and then select a reason from several options for wishing to have it removed.
The first option reads: “It shows my personal information and I don’t want it here.” Click on this link to send your request to Google. If they view it as violating their rules, it may be taken away from search results in a few minutes.
Although the source may still exist online, there are many directories where you can submit requests to remove your information. This is all the more important as that info ends up being used in scams.
When a user tried themself, they found the procedure easy. They searched their name, found a site listing my information, and requested removal. Google sent them an email acknowledging my request, stating that it usually takes a few days to have the result removed from their search index.
