Nintendo Switch 2: PS4 Pro Performance Comes At A Price

Nintendo Switch 2 PS4 Performance comes at a price

Nintendo has kept the details about the Switch 2 under wraps all through the year, consistently indicating that it would not be talking about the topic in any upcoming presentations. As a result, there have been countless leaks related to its design and performance.

The latest buzz, however, with some unclear sources going on around the market hints that the Nintendo Switch could operate at levels that are comparable to the PS4 Pro. This marks a major upgrade from its current performance which looks rooted in the PS3 era.

While this would still place it a generation behind, the decreasing performance gap between console generations makes it quite an impressive leak, even considering the age of Pro.

However, there is a catch behind it, the mode in which most of the players use the Switch handheld, may not get any benefit from these enhancements. The PS4 Pro-level performance is expected only when the Switch is docked, while still in handheld mode, it might only reach the capabilities of a base PS4.

Some critics see this as a drawback but it is important to recognize the trends that have been seen throughout this console generation. Switch’s power has been a topic of discussion, especially considering the third-party pots and the Pokemon series which might have struggled to deliver visually appealing experiences on the platform. However, the overall impact of power has been minimal for the Switch as its unique art styles in primarily first-party titles have worked well with the players. There are also reasons to believe that the Switch 2 will be a tremendous success even with a modest power upgrade. The only potential pitfall could arise if Nintendo fails to differentiate it from the current model. It risks a situation which is similar to the Wii/Wii U confusion if they select a name like New Nintendo Switch Plus.
