Microsoft Rewards is a really rewarding program for anyone who goes deep into the entire Microsoft ecosystem, especially with Xbox. Unfortunately, the news is that this is changing for users who have been depending on it to pay for their Xbox Game Pass subscriptions for quite some time.
Microsoft is now changing the rules regarding how members would redeem their points. Members of Microsoft Rewards reported that they have been receiving notifications of future changes from Pure Xbox regarding the use of auto-redeem for subscriptions at Game Pass using Microsoft Rewards.
That email states, “We wanted to inform you that we will discontinue Microsoft Rewards auto-redeem subscriptions for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Xbox Game Pass Core, and PC Game Pass on April 20, 2025. This adjustment is a result of the recent increase in the number of Microsoft Rewards points required for Xbox Game Pass subscriptions that were bought with Rewards points.”
The email further continues, “You will still be able to redeem subscriptions with auto-redeem for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, Xbox Game Pass Core, and PC Game Pass, but you would need to select a different rewards auto-renew option to renew that subscription after April 20, 2025.”
It may be necessary to reread the statement a few times, as this wording could be disorienting. In specific areas, such as the meaning of the last line that states auto-redeem is really coming to an end but will still exist at a new price point, it is necessary to clear up some confusion.
For example, new prices for all the UK people have already started showing up. Game Pass PC is increased from 7,750 to 10,500 points, while Game Pass Ultimate will be from 12,000 to 17,000 points. This is indeed monumental.
These figures are also the ones to be undergone by level 2 members. Level 1 members can be expected to have a similar heavy increment though the amount may vary.
