Samsung Electronics has launched an updated version of its global connected-living platform, SmartThings, which will now give a better AI Home experience than before. SmartThings has been updated with new features and improvements every quarter to keep the users’ lives more convenient and interlinked.
The key feature of this update is the integration of SmartThings with Samsung Health, designed to create better sleep environments and more personalized automation experiences. Moreover, the update expands on the Calm Onboarding process to cover a wider set of devices and introduces the Matter 1.4 compatibility.
“SmartThings’ latest update represents our ongoing efforts to make the smart home more intuitive, connected and personalized,” stated Jaeyeon Jung, Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings at Samsung Electronics. “We’re excited to continue pushing the boundaries of smart home innovation by empowering users through enhanced personalization and automation, including sleep wellness.”
Reports on the sleep environment provided through Samsung Health on Galaxy devices help users to foster conditions for sound sleep through insights into key areas such as temperature, humidity, carbon dioxide level and light intensity, which are monitored by way of connected devices and sensors.
SmartThings has integrated automation routines within the platform that now allow for repeated processes based on scheduling; whether on a weekly, monthly, or yearly basis giving an extra level of flexibility to accommodate different situations.
A new broadcasting feature allows users to send voice messages via SmartThings-connected speakers for improved convenience when communicating within a home. Samsung is also extending the Calm Onboarding process to encompass compatible third-party smart home devices to ensure a smooth and intuitive connectivity experience.
Moreover, SmartThings is bringing a new boost to the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem by adding support for Matter 1.4. However, the newly introduced version of the standard has marked notable inclusions to cover energy management devices of interstate varieties.
