Along with the release of its next iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro variants this autumn, Apple is said to be preparing to debut a new line of Liquid Silicone cases. This information comes from the leaker known as Majin Bu, whose history is diverse but has, before, shared quite accurate details, including the Mac-like menu bar in iPadOS 26. These new cases might signal a shift in Apple’s accessory strategy, with a stronger focus on functionality.

Earlier leaked images, dubbed official samples, depict display cabinets with a modest ripple design on the rear originating from the MagSafe charging point. The leaker claims they are indeed from Apple, even if these cases are quite similar to the Casetify Ripple cases. The most striking fresh feature, however, is the presence of several cutouts meant for lanyard attachment, which would almost certainly be sold separately. Although this would be a first for an official iPhone case, Apple is not exactly strange to the concept.

The charging case for the AirPods Pro 2 once included lanyard support; years earlier, the iPod touch had a pop-out loop meant for a wrist strap. Still, this most recent leak reveals a slightly different design. This model has a smooth texture instead of the rippled back. Though this is still unconfirmed, it seems more probable to be a genuine iPhone case. It has cutouts at the bottom, maybe for lanyard attachment, much as in the earlier leak. Though the specifics around this are still unclear, the leaker also said that the Liquid Silicone cases would include a liquid glass effect.

Including an integrated lanyard system would set Apple in head-to-head competition with established third-party companies that have perfected this function. For instance, Peak Design has built a complete ecosystem around its Everyday Case, which has a strong anchor link mechanism for tethering several straps and tethers. Many people think this scheme is very adaptable and safe.
