ChatGPT gains power with added features like internet search and task scheduling. The latest enhancement includes a superior search called Deep Research, which has similarities to that in Google Gemini. As the name indicates, this is the tool to find anything on the internet related to what you ask and submit it as a full report presented to you.
The description of the Deep Research technology by OpenAI is as follows, “a reasoning system to search, interpret, and analyze extensive online text, image, and PDF data, adapting as needed on what it comes across.”
Currently, the Deep Research feature is available only to paying users of ChatGPT, meaning you have to pay OpenAI a minimum of $20 every month to avail yourself of its services. However, there has been no announcement related to the free availability of the ChatGPT for users.
Deep Research can be accessed through ChatGPT’s web, desktop, and mobile applications. In the web version, just select an AI model with Deep Research capability from the top left drop-down menu; there will be a button for Deep Research in the prompt area.
Once users click on Deep Research, they should enter their prompt. It could be simple or complex; just like in regular ChatGPT, usually the more detailed their prompt, the better the result. They can ask anything from a complicated scientific question to the history of a music genre, trends in the smartphone market, or potential influences on a piece of literature.
Users are required to hit the Enter key to send their prompt and as soon as they do it, the conversation will get started. In the early phases, responses will vary based on the prompt. ChatGPT will ask for further clarification from the users about certain things or ask for directions regarding the research focus.
