As you can see from the image Cross device services is a new feature focused on better integrating systems with your Google account.

Google Prepares Integration between Android & ChromeOS

This new feature will let users choose the Android phones and Chromebooks they want on their cross-device network. Once you have set up the cross-device services, you’re given access to the new features. The features include Call Cast, Wi-Fi Sharing, and Hotspot Sharing.

From the looks of it, the update looks in the final stages of development, so we may see it pretty soon. It is unknown when it will be released. It might be included with the March feature drop for Android and Pixel devices.

Well, these leaks should not be taken too seriously as many things can change in the development stages. However, if this feature is released, then it would be a great addition to the already exceptional Android OS.

Chromebooks have picked up the pace and started to become the de facto computer for college-going students. So, this is a welcome addition to already available cross-device connectivity in Chromebooks.
