Officially, AMD’s announcement, as the company prepares to introduce the RX 9070 series-based graphics processing units, is set for February 28 to be exciting.
Immediately, one of the hottest rumors about the possibility of a 32GB version of the coveted AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU was shot down by Frank Azor, AMD’s Chief Architect for Gaming Solutions.
Responding to a post on X that hinted at a double-VRAM variant in the making, Azor stated out loud, “No, the 9070 XT card is not coming in 32GB.” He also posted a retweet of a post by David McAfee, the company’s GM of Ryzen CPU and Radeon Graphics that RX 9000-series GPUs are to be shown at the end of the month.
Earlier AMD said it would not be pushing forth any flagship commercial GPU to contend with Nvidia, which rules out the possibility of this creature with 32GB VRAM coming very soon.
In such a scenario, it would not be crazy for Team Red to release a graphics card of this specification, with the demand for AI hardware increasing. However, it has not made any announcements on such plans.
There is good news- AMD has now confirmed the event for the RX 9070 series GPUs. The RDNA 4 cards had been expected by many to be part of the showings at CES 2025, where they ended up being left out of the presentation.
According to McAfee, the company simply ran out of time in its 45-minute presentation and decided to remove the graphics cards instead. After a month-long wait, the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT will take center stage.
According to a post by McAfee on X, the event will take place on February 28 at 8 a.m. EST, with the cards expected to be ready for buying in early March.
