To contain the spread of COVID and to follow the social distancing restrictions imposed by the government, Charter Spectrum has decided to suspend its professional installation service temporarily. As a result, they have introduced self-installation for those who newly subscribe to their service or order equipment.
Fortunately, you don’t need technical expertise to install and activate your Internet services. It’s so easy, you don’t even need a professional’s help. Of course, when you subscribe to the Spectrum net billing service, things are different. A technician will have to visit your place for setting everything up if you don’t know how cable boxes work.
Let’s show you how self-installation works.
When you initially sign up for the provider’s Internet services, they will send over a self-install kit. Don’t panic! It comes with all the basics you need to hook up to the internet and activate your services.
Here’s what’s included in the self-install kit:
Follow these steps to get started:
You will need a coax and power cable for this step. perform the following steps:
(This should take 2 to 5 minutes)
Once all your devices have been plugged in, it’s time to activate your services to be able to start using the Internet.
From your PC or any other mobile device, visit spectrum.net/selfinstall and answer the questions asked. You might be asked to verify your account. Your services will activate all your done.
Another way to activate your services is to call support and ask them to activate. Once your services are activated, create an account on Spectrum.net for managing your account and equipment.
This could happen to anyone. In case of failure, check the following:
If the problem persists and you are certain you have followed every step correctly, call customer support. Chances are there is some technical issue or a fault in the equipment. You may have to replace the equipment.
If you are good at following instructions, you should be able to understand how self-installation works. Calling a professional for installing and activating your services will cost you $49.99. It’s a one-time but still too much. Wouldn’t it be better if you spend this money on a night at a restaurant?
Go the DIY way and save money. Of course, if you think this information was overwhelming, you can always call the provider and ask if professional installation is available.
When you order new equipment or subscribe to the provider’s internet services, choose between professional installation and self-installation. When you choose the latter, the company sends the self-install kit to your address via mail.
Once the kit arrives, make sure you check nothing is missing. If case something is missing, contact the provider right away.
