How Do I Measure SEO Success for My Law Firm?

Posted on March 30, 2021 | By Freddie George

Successful SEO has a ton of power when it comes to driving people to your site and to your business. When it comes to creating SEO content or honing and changing the content or the site that you already have, a well-established SEO agency can surely help. Law firms can certainly benefit from SEO, but how do you know that it is working? Here are some easy steps to check and see if your SEO is working.

    What Is SEO?

Before you try to measure the success of any SEO, it is helpful to know what SEO is and what it stands for. SEO stands for search engine optimization and it refers to the process of optimizing content and sites so that they rank higher in search engines. This means that you are going to be honing and shaping content in the hopes of your site showing up closer to the top of search engine searches. A great example might be thinking about your process when you search for a topic. In most cases, you are not going to go to the second page or even very far down the first page to find the answer. Those sites that are closer to the top are going to be chosen far more often.

    How to Measure SEO Success?

There are a few different factors that go into determining if SEO is a success or not. The first is of course clicks. This is going to track how many times your site was clicked on and visited during a predetermined amount of time. You might also see pages per visit which refers to how many different pages within your site your visitors are seeing. Bounce rate is another factor to keep in mind. This refers to the times that visitors came to your site without browsing past the first page. Scroll depth, or how far your site visitors go is also taken into account.

In most cases, if you hire an SEO firm you can ask them for the analytics about your site and your content to see just how well it is working and what you can do to change it and make it work better. These reports that are generated by your SEO company are crucial to help determine what is going to work for your site and how well it is working also.

    Google Analytics

Google Analytics is a great resource when it comes to measuring the success of any SEO for a few different reasons. Google keeps tabs on everything that happens within their site, so this means that it is going to keep track of the analytics for your site. Google tracks a range of statistics to help measure success. They track how many visits specific pages get, organic traffic over time, how much traffic campaigns or special promotions garner, and the click-through rate for your site. Click-through refers to how many people click on your page based on search results.

Google can provide you with an accurate and in-depth look at your own analytics and can help you determine what is working, what might not be, and what you need to do to boost your search results and get your site further up in the ranking. Google has a range of other analytics that they track that can be found in the report.

    Ways to Improve SEO

There are some ways that you can work to improve your SEO results. The first is to create keyword-rich content. Look for words that are commonly searched and that are going to be easily accessible. Say you are writing a piece about dog behavior. You would want to create accurate keywords that might be searched. Try focusing on specifics to drive traffic and to bring up your content in searches. Creating quality content is going to help you to get more views and more traffic and providing unique content can also help greatly.

You can also increase the number of backlinks. Backlinks help to create a unique footprint for your site that will help to drive users to your site. You also want to focus on making sure you are creating content that is variable, that is useful and that is related to trending topics if at all possible. Though evergreen content is useful, you should also work to update often so that your site stays relevant and stays in the loop as far as searches go.

No matter what you are doing or what you are working toward, SEO is a valuable skill and a valuable endeavor that can change the way that your site is accessed, that can change the way that people see your business, and that can help drive traffic to your site and your business. We live in a time when the internet is used more often than any other resource and making sure your SEO is working well and that it is honed can truly make a difference in the overall success and in how many people ultimately see your site, visit your site and use your site.
