  • Open the Instagram app and tap on your profile.

After this, close Instagram and restart it. Lastly, enable the option using the following steps.

Sharing Permission Withheld

  • Open Instagram and go to your profile icon.

  • Scroll down and enable the option for “Allow sharing to story”.

Clear Cache

  • Go to Settings and select Apps.
  • Now, choose Instagram.
  • Then go to Storage and tap on Clear Cache.
  • Now start Instagram and see if the problem still persists.

Make Account Public

  • Go to Instagram and tap on your profile.
  • Now, tap on the three-line menu in the top right corner of the screen.
  • Then go to Settings < Privacy.
  • Under the Account Privacy option, disable the option for Private Account and tap to Switch to Public.
  • Now your account has switched into a Public Account, and you will hopefully be able to repost the posts on your stories now.

Use a Different Phone

If none of the methods so far have worked for you, you can try logging in to your account from a different device. It often happens that due to the device lagging or hanging, the apps aren’t able to operate smoothly. How to Share Posts as Story on Instagram?

Sharing a post as a story on Instagram is a child’s play. It can be done easily using just a few simple steps:

  • Open Instagram.
  • Go to the post you want to share and tap on the airplane icon below it.
  • Then click on Add Post to Story.
  • Lastly, click on Your Story, and it will be posted successfully.
  • Choose the option that you prefer for the audience of your story.
  • Now your story will be posted successfully.

How to Share a Story Without the “Add Post to Story” Button?

If you don’t want to bother going all the way to the share button and then tapping on the option “Add Post to Story” to share the post on your story, then you can share it using different ways. Let’s see how.

  • Open Instagram, then go to the post that you want to share and tap on the three vertical dots on the right side of the post.
  • Now click on the Link option from the bottom of the screen in the middle.

Note: The post will now be available on your device and available to post on your story. However, you should keep in mind that content from a private account cannot be downloaded.

Apart from the above-mentioned method, you can also try the method for reporting the problem directly to Instagram. Even though the solution might not be immediately provided by Instagram, you can still try it if the methods mentioned above didn’t work for you.

  • Go to Instagram and tap on your profile icon.
  • Then go to Settings < Help.
  • After the section opens, click on Report a Problem.
  • Now describe the issue, and you can also insert screenshots of the issue if you wish to.
  • Lastly, click on Send report.
