Easy-to-Read Help Guide to Resolve Message Sending Issues on Android

A person can feel that messaging services are of no use, due to the rise of digital media and other messaging apps. But, even to this day, all the important messages or queries regarding your data, company, OTP(one-time-password), or bank accounts are only sent through SMS, to maintain utmost security. And at this point, it gets frustrating and annoying if your messages or texts aren’t sent when you are in desperate need of it.

  1. POOR AIRTIME: There can be a possibility that your messages are not sent on time to the receiving end or are received late, due to the lack of speed or longer messages.
  2. DEVICE HOST SETTINGS: Check your device’s host, as this could interfere with sending messages from your device. 
  3. NETWORK SETTINGS: Check your cellular provider’s network and settings
  4. CONFIRM PHONE NUMBER: Confirm if the phone number you have sent the message to is correct, there can be chances that you sent the message on an invalid phone number or check if the number has been blocked by you.
  5. CARRIER SUPPORT CHECK: Check whether your carrier supports text messages.
  6. CHECK MESSAGING APP: Check if the in-built messaging app is your default text messaging app.
  7. CHECK SIM CARD INSERTION: Ensure that your SIM card is inserted properly, to function and send the messages. If it is, check your device’s network status. You can also check the same by using the SIM card on a different device.

Required Solutions

Follow the solutions listed below, if your messages or texts won’t send through Android:

Solution 1: Refresh your phone

Refresh your phone by hitting the reset tab. To do so, just long-press on the power button and click Restart from the screen, or turn off your phone and turn it on after 5 seconds. By this, any loops or glitches will be resolved automatically and you will be able to send messages within a click.

Solution 2: Turn off airplane mode 

If your Android device’s Airplane mode is turned on, your phone will not be able to send messages. To prevent this, go to Settings > Turn off Airplane Mode (by sliding right to left).

By turning off the Airplane Mode, you will get the networks and can continue SMSing!

Solution 3: Remove the messaging app from the background 

Try to remove your messaging app from the apps running in the background. This may resolve app-related glitches. After doing so, continue sending messages to the required person.

Solution 4: Update your phone 

Maybe you are using an outdated version of your Android phone, which can prevent you from sending messages. If that is the case, just update your Android device to its latest version and try to send a message again.

Your device can be updated according to your Android model, go to Settings > Software Update and install any pending updates or Settings > System > Advanced > System Update.

Solution 5: Unblock the blocked numbers

You might have blocked some phone numbers deliberately or by mistake and due to these reasons, you might face issues in sending messages to the ones you want to. To unblock these numbers, just follow the steps below:

  • Step 1: Go to your Dialpad of the Phone Bar and click on the Settings icon, from the top-right corner.

  • Step 4: From Block messages, if you see the following screen, slide right to left in the column that says- “Block Messages from unknown Numbers”

The above-mentioned steps may vary for different Android devices.

Solution 6: Clear your SMS App’s Cache and Data 

This solution will clean all the junk files or unnecessary data from your messaging app, which can be an obstacle and you may wonder- ‘why won’t my messages be sent’. To resolve the same, follow the steps below:

  • Step 1: Go to the Settings of your Android device and click on Apps.

Solution 7: Set SMS as your default messaging app

This will set your in-built SMS app as default for the messaging services. So, that you use your in-built app whenever you are sending a message. To set it up, follow the steps below:

  • Step 1: Go to your Messages, and click on the Settings icon at the top right under the following section as shown below.

By this method, you will be able to set up your in-built messaging app as your go-to app. 

Solution 8: Check SMSC(short message service center)

To choose the sim card services you want to use to access your default messaging services, follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Go to Messages, and click on the Settings icon at the top right, shown below.
